Jonas and Marcel have been completing the practical part of their cooperative study programs at our Erfurt Zalando logistics center since October 2022. They are both studying business with logistics at DHGE. Before beginning his studies, Marcel spent a year volunteering and worked at a fulfillment center; Jonas spent two years with the German armed forces. Jonas and Marcel will work in every area of the company up to fall 2025.

But what is actually a cooperative study program? A cooperative study program combines theoretical and practical elements. Students attend an institute of higher education and complete an apprenticeship at a company at the same time. Unlike conventional students, those completing cooperative education programs are paid by their employer. The academic and practical parts alternate at Zalando every three months. Here at the fulfillment center, students gain valuable insight into all areas of the company, including administration. They then start to be trained as Team Leads and Department Leads from the second year of the course. You obtain a bachelor’s degree at the end, gain lots of practical experience and meet a large number of colleagues from different departments. You then have the necessary qualifications for a management position.
