As an Engineering Lead - People Management, also called Practice Lead, you will partner with Delivery Leads to coach and empower individuals working in autonomous teams along the path of innovation and delivery of high quality, state of the art software.
Working one-on-one with software engineers, you develop relationships built on trust and act as a coach for each of your directs and align their individual motivation, growth and goals with those of Zalando Tech. Your mission is to set the bar for the engineers at Zalando and work directly with them on their journey to Mastery.
You Are Setting Standards
Collaboration. In collaboration with Delivery Leads and Software Architects, you ensure that Zalando’s engineering standards and performance expectations are met by your directs.
Guidance. You conduct regular performance assessments and coach and mentor individuals to raise their performance bar.
Inspiration. You encourage individuals to grow their skills and capabilities through discovering and following their passion and purpose.
Impact. You act as a key contributor in developing Zalando Tech’s overall technical capabilities by working one-on-one with your engineers. Furthermore, you develop and evangelize forward-thinking engineering practices and strong feedback culture across all of Zalando Tech.
Growth. You work with the recruiting team to attract, onboard, and retain diverse top talent while cultivating a culture of ownership, autonomy, mastery, innovation, and purpose.
You Are Skilled
Experience. With 10+ years of solid engineering experience (3-5 years in leadership positions), preferably in an agile development environment.
Leadership. You are passionate about developing and growing people and enjoy leading, coaching and mentoring software engineers, engineering teams and collaborating with other leaders.
Communication. In communicating with empathy, influence and inspiration as well as in dealing with and resolving conflicts in a graceful manner.
Education. With a degree in Computer Science (in lieu of degree, a total of 15+ years of relevant work experience).
