As a Backend Software Engineer at Zalando Fulfillment Solutions, you will design tech solutions to extend our state-of-art Zalando Fulfillment capabilities to external brands and partners who in-turn want to use these functionalities to provide best-in-class eCommerce experience to end-consumers. You will have to ensure that in an evolving network complexity, all our operational processes like warehousing, inventory management, inventory distribution, deliveries, returns, replenishment logics etc. can be steered automatically and sensibly by building reliable and performant services. In line with the overall Zalando philosophy you bring visibility and transparency to processes and thus have a huge impact on our customers and key stakeholders

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

• Design, develop, deploy, operate & improve important software solutions that possibly impact millions of customers is what you want to do.
• Based on our microservices architecture, you and your team will own your code, and decide on the technologies and tools to deliver as well as operate large-scale applications on PaaS/SaaS cloud (AWS). Frontend knowledge is also highly expected here (i.e. TypeScript, JavaScript) as well as modern libraries & frameworks (i.e. react, AngularJS or Ember).
• Working like a startup & taking ownership for the whole development cycle - from architecture design to testing to implementation & maintenance.
• You will join a team that is dedicated to delivering the highest standards when it comes to the quality of your code and implementation. You will add value by leveraging current trends in software design, architecture and web services.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Experience with JVM based technology stacks, such as Java, Kotlin and Spring Boot including JavaScript or TypeScript and NodeJS. You bring an interest for full stack development and a good understanding of PostgreSQL, experience in designing distributed systems, microservices & cloud architectures/platforms (preferably AWS). • You are experienced in deploying and operating your application in Cloud infrastructure. You care about logging, monitoring (metrics and event based), automated tests and fast delivery.
• You write high-performance, reusable code and using version control systems. You have a strong focus on quality and know how to test. You care about reliability, scalability and performance of your app end to end.
• Strong sense of ownership, entrepreneurial & analytical thinking add to your excellent communication skills (fluent in written & spoken English is a must) and willingness to share knowledge within the team but also outside the team.
